About Amol Kapoor
Amol Kapoor is CEO and co-founder of Nori Agentic, a New York company that builds cloud agents: coding agents that run in remote environments on triggers and schedules rather than on a developer's laptop. He has worked as an AI engineer for about 12 years, including four and a half years at Google, where his research covered graph neural networks, computer vision and robotics. He also runs Agentics NYC, which he describes as New York's largest agentic engineering community.
In an AI Engineer talk with co-founder and CTO Clifford Ressel, he describes Nori's work with a Fortune 200 asset manager whose security master database had about 50,000 assets and 200 columns. Every changed cell used to take an hour of human triage; a Nori cloud agent now assembles the explanation, citations and recommendation, and a human spends five minutes saying yes or no.
Notable Positions
On Cloud Agents
A cloud agent is a generic coding agent such as Claude Code or OpenCode moved into a remote environment, where it can be audited, observed and triggered without a person involved. The sec master agent should run on the same infrastructure as a company's audit or code review agents, differing only in instructions, tools and triggers. See Cloud Agents.
On Configuring Agents
Agents get domain expertise the way a new analyst does: written instructions in English about where documents live, which sources to trust and how to judge a change. Nori skins generic agents with skills and agent markdown files instead of building custom agent infrastructure.
On Human Oversight
Kapoor argues for 95% automation with a human in the loop for the final decision. One human spending five minutes on a case unlocks far more problems than trying to run every task end-to-end at 100%.
Key Quotes
- "You can take something that used to take an hour and make it just five minutes of human work." (on the agentic sec master)
- "The future of enterprise AI is not use a robot on your laptop to solve a problem. It's having the robots come to you with tasks, advice, analysis, and recommendations." (on proactive agents)
- "AI adoption is primarily a collaboration problem. People want to buy solutions. Engineers want to sell building blocks." (on enterprise adoption)
