Career Highlights
- Head of AI product at Coinbase
- Speaker at AI Engineer (2026) on agents as the primary users of the internet
Notable Positions
On APIs as a Defensive Hedge
AI agents and stablecoins are arriving together, like smartphones and 4G LTE, which opens new products and a risk of disintermediation. Coinbase's response is to expose everything a human can do in the app through APIs with guardrails, the way banking moved to mobile.
On x402 and Microtransactions
x402, Coinbase's internet-native payment standard, now sits in a separate foundation. Murr sees crypto's role in letting agents pay fractions of a cent per API call or paywalled page, and reports around 100 million on-chain agentic transactions in the past year. See Agentic Commerce.
On API, MCP and CLI
The API is always the foundation. MCP adds natural-language context and a CLI adds a terminal requirement, and companies need all three.
Key Quotes
- "Around 100 million agentic transactions, actually, all happening on-chain." (on x402 traction)
